Large companies must go to great lengths to be just as good as small companies at taking quick and clear action. Whether you are an employee, manager or director, if you see something on the job that obviously defies common sense, then you must do something about it! If we see something that repeatedly fails to work, we must not settle for thinking that it is somebody else’s responsibility. Rather, we must constructively pursue things that do not work, in collaboration with those who are responsible. And if you are contacted by a colleague who suggests a possible way of doing things differently in your area of responsibility, you owe it to yourself, the colleague and Royal Greenland to view it as constructive input and not undue interference. This will enable us to achieve the same agility and decisiveness as much smaller companies, while maintaining the much greater execution power of a large company. Generally speaking, we must do two things simultaneously in 2014: Firstly, we must take solid steps towards executing our strategy, The North Atlantic Cham pion. As you will see in many articles in this issue of Navigatio, a number of projects have already been implemented to meet this challenge. Secondly, we must enhance our ability to cut through unnecessary complexity so that we are able to make and execute quick and clear decisions in a changing world. In other words, we are going to have our hands full when seeking to realise Royal Greenland’s great opportunities in 2014 and the many years to come.
