“I am grateful that the care we take with our catches has not gone unnoticed. But then, of course, when Inughuit Seafood A/S was established in 2013, we were told very clearly that it is important to treat the catches with the requisite care,” says K’ulutana Kvist in polar bear skin trousers. volumes increasing steadily, is a good sign that the transition from sealing to fishing has gone extremely well for them,” says Therkel Mathiassen in conclusion. Successful fishing K’ulutana Kvist, a fisherman from Qaanaaq and a member of the Board of Directors of Inughuit Seafood A/S, which is jointly owned by the fishermen in Qaanaaq and Royal Greenland, says that in connection with the establishment of Inughuit Seafood A/S in 2013, the fishermen were taught how to handle their catches. “I’m grateful that the care we take with our catches has not gone unnoticed. But then, of course, when Inughuit Seafood A/S was established in 2013, we were told very clearly that it is important to treat the catches with the requisite care. We were told that if we complied with the requirements, we would achieve a very high quality. We also found out that it pays to supply a high quality, and we therefore take pride in exercising considerable care when dealing with the catch,” says K’ulutana Kvist. K’ulutana says that for some of the fishermen in Qaanaaq, fishing is a sideline occupation, but that the younger generation is focusing exclusively on fishing. “The fishing is going well, which is good for the locals in Qaanaaq and for the settlements in the area. It is an opportunity for the young people to become self-sufficient fishermen, which we set great store by,” says K’ulutana Kvist happily. The volume of Greenland halibut landed in Qaanaaq has grown considerably since the company in Qaanaaq was founded in 2013. A total of 20 tonnes of Greenland halibut was landed in 2013 and 110 tonnes in 2014. Between 1 January and the end of May 2015, 115 tonnes of Greenland halibut have already been landed in Qaanaaq.
